The Importance Of Events

importance of eventsThe Importance Of Events

A quick blog post before I head out the door for a live event.  I have been looking forward to this one since it was announced.  Most of the events I have been to have great conceptual content.  I have always learned a great deal, but the one thing that has been missing at them is hands on training.   Frankly, knowing the people that are putting this one on tells me that it will be an unbelievable experience.  I have learned quite a bit over the last few years in the social media marketing and internet marketing niches, but it is time to step up my game.  I am also excited to see some people I have not seen in a few years.

Everyone Talks About The Importance Of Events.

Why?  Events work for a number of reasons.  What do I mean?  I have learned a vast majority of internet/network marketing via webinars and recorded trainings.  It is great and very convenient, but I have noticed that my desire to listen in on another webinar, etc. has really dropped off recently.  This has happened in the past and if you are wondering how I “recharged my batteries”…  I attended a live event.

This is where the importance of events comes in to play.  This gets you out from behind the laptop to interact with others.  Many of the attendees are in the same place you are…and there are those that have had incredible success.  They give you an experience of being able to network and learn from some of the best out there.  I have also met some incredible people, that have become close friends over the years.  It is not just the sessions, but the social time outside of the planned stuff.

Beyond the Importance Of Events, What If I Am Still Struggling An Don’t Have A Clue Where to Start?

Over the last several months, I have been really thinking about my approach to marketing, etc.  I took a break from blogging several times a week to get back into some paid marketing strategies, such as Facebook PPC and Search Engine PPC.  I really was at a point with my blog where I was simply writing to write and I noticed that my content was getting a bit stale.  I took a step back and decided it was time to revamp everything.  Here is where I started:

  • I made a list of all the tools and products I was using and cancelled those that were not needed (I generally do this once a year) – it always amazes me what I purchase that is not needed
  • Went through my website/blog and updated everything.
  • Cleaned up all my social media accounts and re-launched my Facebook Fan Page.
  • Planning at least weekly some form of content – video or blog

I needed a reboot and these steps really helped me to get there.

I am also back to plugging into the team that I work with (two of the founders are training at the event I am attending).  They provide incredible step by step training, pre-built sales funnels, and webinars that take most of the guess work out of marketing.

Wishing you success,

Brett Eater
